Guests can access The Secret Garden 24/7. For everyone else, usually 8am – 2pm, but if you are planning to stop by give us a heads up 787.328.9551

All our guests will receive a FREE printed copy upon check in. For everyone else, you can get your copy of The Map at:

  • Secret Garden at Sonsoleá.
  • Simple Food. 
  • Sun Vibes, Río Grande.

Check in can be done any moment on or after 3pm. Keys will be inside lockbox on main entrance. Code to open lockbox will be sent as soon as room is ready. Early check ins after noon (12pm) are free but subject to availability and can’t be guaranteed. 

Check Out can be done any moment on or before 10am. Late check outs have a fee of $50 until 4pm and are subject to availability on check out date.

You can rent a car, take an uber or taxi from the airport. 

While you can go by without a car because there is enough activities and restaurants for a couple of days (check out our tourist map), we highly suggest to rent a car so you can do close by trips and make the most of your stay.

¡Hola! I’m Mariyoan, and together with my husband Nacho, we’ve created and curated Sonsoleá. My passion has always been Puerto Rico and its natural beauty, so after earning a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from UPR—and taking a few unexpected turns along the way—I found my way to Luquillo, doing what I love most. We don’t just run Sonsoleá; we live here and make our life in Luquillo with our family, embracing everything this special place has to offer.

The Guest House is fully backed up with Solar Panels, Tesla Battery and Gas Generator. You will not lose power during a black out and will be able to operate air conditioning in most of the units (not all). During massive black outs energy saving and maintenance protocols may take place. 

There is free street parking in our location. Plenty of free spots nearby. 

We are on the beach. La Pared Beach is just a few steps away (only for experienced surfers). Just a few minutes walk away, beautiful Playa Costa Azul is safe for swimming. La Monserratte blue flag beach is a 5 minute drive away or 40 minute walk along the shoreline. 

El Angelito trailhead is our favorite. An easy 15 minute walk with swimming hole at the end. We highly recommend to stop by the visit center because you can’t really love what you can’t understand and the visit center sheds light into a wider perspective of The Rainforest Ecosystem. Other than that, stay on the trails and don’t get in the river if its raining.

Absolutely! Just give us a heads up and we will store your bags. 

Our wifi is reliable. We have a local company that transmits signal through antenna and is backed up with solar panels. Higher wifi requests can be accommodated for a fee. 

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the rooms and all common areas. As a family-friendly guest house, our priority is creating a safe and comfortable environment for children. Guests may smoke in the private outdoor spaces of their units, as long as it is done in moderation and does not disturb other guests or neighbors. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping the space welcoming for everyone.
